I feel that this painting in particular reminds me a lot of my grandfather. He had a piece that had similar colors and as I was painting I kept feeling as though I had seen this piece before, hence the name, and felt truly connected to him when I realized why I felt that way.

My first piece of 2024, inspired by my former painting "Thalassophile". After selling and parting ways, I grew to miss gazing upon what appeared to be an ocean view and felt the need to recreate it. This has led to a series of paintings I refer to as, "The Sea Series". Followed by, The Siren Sea, Poseidon's Palace, and a final piece to be added in the future.

Clytie is the name of a sea divinity, in love and rejected by Apollo, she threw herself to the sea floor and turned her head as she watched the god of sun and light cross the sky for seven days. She eventually rooted to the ground and became a flower, forever following the sun.

Philautia is the Greek word meaning love for oneself. This painting was done during a very vulnerable point in my life where I was learning self love while going through feelings of heartbreak and betrayal. You can see the raw passion and explosive energy throughout the piece. I feel that it truly captures my mood, possibly more than any other piece I have done.
